How do I sort and filter the search results?

When searching the Softonic website, you have several options for sorting and filtering the search results.
 
How to sort the search results:
To sort the results, locate the “Sort by“ drop down menu:


You can sort by the following criteria:
1. Relevance: Results are sorted by how closely they match your search terms, with the most relevant appearing at the top.
2. Date: Results are sorted by publication date in chronological order, with the most recent at the top.
3. Downloads: Resulted are sorted by total number of times a program has been downloaded since first published on the website, in descending order.
4. Weekly Downloads: Results are sorted by the total number of downloads for the current week.
5. Softonic rating: Results are sorted in descending order by the rating given by Softonic’s editors.
6. User rating: Results are sorted in descending order by the average rating from users.
 
How to filter the search results:
Filtering the search results will help you find more relevant results. To do this, locate the “Filter by” column on the right side of the page:


You can filter by the following criteria:

1. License: Display only the free programs.
2. Language: Display only programs in the English language.
3. Category: Display only results relevant to the selected category.
4. Operating system: Display only the results relevant to the selected operating system.
 
You can filter your search by more than one criteria.
